I will most definitely read it over again, slowly, for the wisdoms of this brave and resilient survivor. My hope for Katie Beers is that the telling of her story is not only healing for her but freeing for others and that it will lead to her capture (who can be paroled anytime) to remain safely behind bars.

This book tells the true story of Katie Beers. As a child she was kidnapped and held for 17 days. Her kidnapper seemed to think he was saving her from a family who didn't care for her as they should. She was not given the love and care she should have by her family, but he certainly didn't make things better for her. She was abused sexually at home and by the kidnapper. His treatment of Katie will make you sick! I won't go into her treatment,but you will be amazed that this little girl could with stand what he put her thru. Katie is a survivor!
This is such a thorough telling of what happened in the case of Katie Beers...it was difficult to read at times, but just goes to show the horrific nature of what happened to get, but the resilience of her constitution. The events were delivered well and respectfully, with her own words and inside perspective, as well as outside perspectives and actual letters of those involved. I could not put it down! I'm impressed every time I had a question, it was answered....and I am glad they added pictures to further satiate curiosity and bring her story to life. It's important for everyone to understand how community needs to rally together and protect those who cannot protect themselves. Katie is an incredible person and I'm glad she has the courage to bring her story to light.
